This amazing image was taken with a Zeiss Axio Observer 7 fluorescence microscope [Stained with PAC-1 (green) and CD62PE (purple)]. It shows how platelets, the cells in the blood that helps with the clotting of the blood, abnormally clumps together in Long COVID patient’s blood. This pathological occurrence is due to the chronic inflammation that these patients have and leads to their varies symptoms. This technique is the only way to observe the abnormal clotting of the platelets in Long COVID blood, as conventional testing methods are not able to diagnose the patients. Due to the lack of testing methods, and this technique only know to a few labs, is what is leading desperate patients, not only in South Africa, but around the world, to located labs that are able to do this testing to finally find out what is wrong with them. With this technique our lab has been able to help numerous Long COVID patients SEE what is wrong with them for the past 2 years.
